In 2017, Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee released Despacito and it topped the charts for most streamed songs in just the space of six months. The combination of reggaeton and pop music not only brought an interest to the genre, but also to Latin music generally. The Billboard Top 100 had four songs mainly in Spanish as of 2016, in contrast to two in the year 2015. The popularity of Despacito peaked in the year 2017. In 2020, 41 mostly Spanish songs will make the Top 100. In the wake of Justin Bieber's dual remix Despacito (2017), a number of bilingual remixes Despacito (2017) famous musicians soon started collaborating with reggaeton performers including Drake along with Bad Bunny on MIA (2018) and Madonna and Maluma for Medellin (2019). The gradual mainstreaming of reggaeton became a concern for some performers during the year 2020. Rauw alejandro and a young generation, however, determined to maintain the style. The incorporation of elements from electronic dance music, as well as different styles was an accepted procedure.
